Ward County, TX – Several people were injured Monday evening in a multi-vehicle collision in Ward County, according to the Texas DPS.
The collision happened around 5:45 p.m. on April 27 on Interstate 20 at mile marker 74 near Wickett.
DPS said a truck tractor towing a dump trailer partially lost a load of cemented soil onto the westbound lanes of the interstate. Other vehicles then drove through the soil, creating a large dust cloud. The dust caused reduced visibility and led to a chain-reaction collision involving fourteen vehicles.
Sixteen people sustained injuries in the collision.
One of the drivers was taken to Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries. The other drivers were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
The authorities are investigating the collision.
