Manor, TX – Two people were killed, and a child was seriously injured after two vehicles collided Saturday afternoon on US 290 in Manor, according to authorities.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:58 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of E US 290 Highway and Old Kimbro Road.
According to the Manor Police Department, an 18-wheeler was heading westbound on US 290. At the same time, a blue sedan was turning northbound onto Old Kimbro Road from eastbound US 290. The 18-wheeler ran a red light and crashed into the passenger side of the sedan.
The driver and front-seat passenger of the sedan suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene. A child who was also in the sedan suffered serious injuries and was transported by STAR Flight to a local hospital.
The identities of the two people killed have not been released
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.
Authorities have not indicated whether impairment or any other factor contributed to the crash.
The westbound lanes of US 290 were closed between FM 1100 Road and Old Kimbro Road. Old Kimbro Road was also blocked at US 290 while authorities worked at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
