The fatal collision happened around 9:04 p.m. on May 14 on State Highway 146 just south of the Polk County line.

Liberty County, TX – A 40-year-old Baytown man was killed Thursday night in a head-on collision in Liberty County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision happened around 9:04 p.m. on May 14 on State Highway 146 just south of the Polk County line.
DPS said the man was driving a 2007 Ford Escape northbound in the southbound lane when he crashed head-on into a 2024 Western Star 18-wheeler towing a 2013 tanker that was traveling southbound.
The Ford driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, John Wayne Brown, 56, of Lumberton, was uninjured.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
