Austin, TX – A 2-year-old was killed Sunday night in a DWI collision in South Austin, according to the police.

The fatal collision happened around 9:54 p.m. on May 3 in the 2700 block of S. Lamar Boulevard just north of Manchaca Road.

Police said a pickup truck and an SUV were involved in the collision.

Two passengers in the SUV were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, where one of them, identified as 2-year-old Abbi Sofia Romero Aular, later died.

The pickup truck driver, Keegan C. Shirley, 30, was arrested at the scene and was facing charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury. He was being held on a cumulative $150,000 bond.

Other people involved in the collision sustained minor injuries.

The Austin Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Unit is investigating the collision.
