Belton, TX – A woman was seriously injured early Saturday morning after an alleged drunken driver crashed into a home in Belton, according to the authorities.
The accident happened on May 2 in the 5000 block of Waterworks near Denmans Loop.
Authorities said Michael Curtis Gaines, of Belton, was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when he left the roadway. He then overcorrected, re-entered the roadway, crossed over, and crashed into a home.
Gaines tried to flee the scene after the accident.
A woman inside the home was pinned beneath the truck and had to be extricated. She was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple with serious injuries.
Gaines was arrested after he failed field sobriety tests. Additional felony charges are pending.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
