Jasper County, TX. – One person was killed in a motorcycle accident that left another injured on Saturday night near Brookeland in Jasper County.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Highway 96 North near Black Sheep Saloon just before midnight.

A 37-year-old Pineland man and a 37-year-old woman were riding a motorcycle northbound on Highway 96 when they crashed into a pickup truck that exited a parking lot.

The man riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female passenger of the motorcycle was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was unhurt. He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, and was booked into the Jasper County jail.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the collision.
