Belton, TX — Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 35 at the Belton-Temple line Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to Texas DPS, the two vehicles involved were traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving through slower traffic before the collision. One of the vehicles, a Nissan Altima, then made an unsafe lane change across all northbound lanes and collided with a Hyundai Elantra.
The Hyundai driver, Tavarshea Daveon Sims, a 31-year-old resident of Killeen, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Hyundai, identified as Shane Demeair Taylor, a 39-year-old resident of Cameron, was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
The Nissan driver and another Hyundai passenger were critically injured in the collision. Both patients were hospitalized.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
