El Paso, TX – A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run accident in Far East El Paso, according to the deputies.

The deadly accident was reported around 9:41 p.m. on May 24 at the intersection of Montana Avenue and Buntline Drive.

Deputies said a passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on Montana Avenue when it tried to turn left onto Buntline Drive. It failed to yield the right of way and struck a motorcycle that was traveling eastbound on Montana.

The motorcyclist, 33-year-old Fernando Villa of El Paso, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The passenger vehicle fled the scene after the accident. It was later located, and the driver, 18-year-old Jose Orlando Ruiz Rodriguez, was arrested.  He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and charged with one count of Accident Involving Death, with a $100,000 bond, and Tampering with Evidence, with a $10,000 bond.

The authorities are investigating the collision.
