Live Oak County, TX – Two people died Friday afternoon in a head-on collision in Live Oak County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal collision happened around 4:53 p.m. on May 15 on US 59 near County Road 330.

DPS said a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound during heavy rain when it lost control due to unsafe speeds for the wet road conditions. It crossed into southbound lanes, where it crashed head-on into a 2021 Eldo bus operated by R.E.A.L Inc. A 2024 Nissan Altima, which was traveling behind the bus, swerved off the roadway to avoid hitting the bus.

A passenger in the Dodge, Margaret Ward, 58, of Conroe, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the bus, Sherry Edwards, 71, of Mathis, was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville, where she later died.

The Dodge driver, a 61-year-old man, was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville for treatment.

The driver of the bus, a 58-year-old Alice woman, was taken to the hospital for treatment. A 24-year-old male passenger from Taft and his daughter were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Altima driver, a 35-year-old woman from San Antonio, was uninjured in the accident.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
