The fatal crash happened at about 12:20 a.m. Thursday, August 20, at the intersection of Farm to Market 2826 and County Road 77.
Robstown, TX – A 22-year-old Robstown man was killed, and his passenger was critically injured after a three-vehicle crash at an intersection in Robstown on Thursday last week, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The victim has since been identified as Raynaldo Garcia III.
The fatal crash happened at about 12:20 a.m. Thursday, August 20, at the intersection of Farm to Market 2826 and County Road 77.
According to a preliminary investigation, Garcia was driving a 2023 Kia Sportage south on County Road 77 with a 21-year-old passenger. As he approached FM 2826, Garcia failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the rear of a 2011 step tanker being towed by a 2024 Mack truck tractor traveling west on FM 2826. The Kia was dragged before separating from the trailer. A 2003 Mercury SPG traveling east on FM 2826 was also involved after sustaining minor damage from crash debris.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. His 21-year-old passenger was transported to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital in critical condition. The 53-year-old Mack truck driver and the 76-year-old Mercury driver were not injured.
No arrests were reported.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the crash and conducted the preliminary investigation. The Corpus Christi Highway Patrol Office is handling the investigation.
