San Antonio, TX – A wrong-way collision on Interstate 37 early Sunday left one person dead and another with serious injuries, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The fatal crash was reported at about 2:47 a.m. on September 6 in the 13000 block of southbound I-37, near Southton Road.
Police said a woman was traveling against the flow of traffic in the southbound lanes when her vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle.
DPS said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second driver, a man, was seriously injured but was alert at the scene when the emergency crews arrived. The male driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No additional injuries were reported.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
The crash forced authorities to close the southbound lanes of I-37 while emergency crews handled the scene. The highway has since been reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
